How to set up and use Google Webmaster tools

If you have just hosted your website with our Starter Plan (Ksh. 2,500), or Premier Plan (Ksh. 4,500). Google Webmaster Tools helps you maximize the revenue generated from your website by improving your sites’ visibility in Google search results, and hence increase traffic to your website. Call it maximizing the Return on Investment (ROI)!

Google Webmaster enables you to know:
– How Google views your website
– Problems in your sites meta tags, links, inaccessible pages
– Internal and external links to your website
– Which search query drive traffic to your website
– Which pages are included in Google index
Google Webmaster tool is free for use.

Step one:
Log into Google Webmaster Tools using your Google account credentials. If you don’t have a Google Account, register here.

Step two:
Click Add a site, and type the URL of the site you want to add. Make sure you type the entire URL, such as http://www.example.com/

You will be prompted to verify the website to be able to use the service. The easiest way to verify the website is by using a Meta tag option. Copy the code that is generated.

Step three:
Paste  the code in between the <head> Here </head> codes of your website’s index page, and upload the page to your server.

Step four:

Log back in Goggle Webmaster click verify. Your are done…now you will be able to log into Google Webmaster anytime to check for problems, links and search queries that drive traffic to your website.

  1. Some good basic tips here. The more you learn about the way google indexes sites, the more you will learn about the tools they have to offer. Their system is more intricate then what lies on the surface. That is only the tip of the iceburg.

    1. @Nick N., I agree with you. But I have learned that when you design and add quality content based on what is good for the users/visitors, Google rewards you handsomely. This has become my basic tenet.
